Murad Osmann started on instagram photographing his girlfriend now wife. He used the hashtag #followme and shows her leading him to places all over the world. It's an interesting perspective on travel photography.
The cover of the 1st wave of John Mayers new album. He had these done by Soey Milk, a very young artist who uses paint as her medium. All her work is incredible but I happened upon her because of the album cover.
This artist is anonymous, and uses tumblr to showcase her work. She is definitely a feminist, and showcases drawings she does in a unique was to describe what women are faced with. The large eyes and thick letters are her style, and I really enjoy this one and the way in funnels down to the end of the page.
He is a fashion illustrator that has taken his work to another level by drawing designs, and then cutting out pieces and putting them in front of interesting designs or landscapes. This piece is beautiful as it shows the flower's shapes and the bodice is very well accented as well.
Dimitra is only 16 years old. She started painting at 4 years old, and now paints dreamscape type works. She combines beautiful colors with people and animals mixed in. She said, "I want my art to be a window into another realm, bringing heaven to earth. Art changes everything, it transforms us from the inside out." She certainly accomplishes that. This painting takes me personally into the ocean and gives an underwater feel.
Jessica did a photo series called "Monstrous Feminine" that depicts that unreachable beauty standards of women. Ledwich says her project explores the fact that throughout “history, the bodies of women have been represented as a threatening form of sexuality”. Here this is very affective in showing how being tan is considered beautiful, when the ways women go about it can be extremely dangerous.
Lucila is a mural artist in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is interested in botany, and implements that into her work. I love this piece with the peacock as the central focus and the pink and orange foliage surrounding.
Lye is a Singaorean artist that makes 3D animals with layers of resin and paint. He truly has a talent for tang simple materials and building something substantial. I love this turtle and the attention he paid to the detailing. The red on the neck and even the textured look on his shell show the time he took to make it as accurate as possible.
Pio is from Cape Town. Though mostly a painter, but he did this series of self portraits that he titled "Cape Colonial Self-Portraiture." The lighting and solid background really emphasize the simple features of these pictures. I think this was a successful photo series.
Based out of Madrid, Martin is a sculptor who works with books and creates interesting ways for them to be displayed. I love this piece particularly because of the excess of books and the way they funnel out of the wall.
She is based out of Kansas City, Missouri. She had the following to say about her work, "Filled with geometric structures, masses of dots, and washes of paint, I view the elements in my work as living organisms, painted inhabitants, pulsing and moving throughout multiple picture planes. Some paintings provide a cosmic view into this imagined world, whereas others present a microscopic perspective–zooming in to show fictitious atomic activity." I have personally loved her work for a long time and enjoy the composition of her pieces and colors.
Very well known in the fashion world for being the head designer and creative director for Chanel, Fendi, and his own self-named brand. He shoots all campaign imagery for the brands, and this one in particular of Anna Wintour, who is also famous in the fashion industry, shows a portrait like style.
Though Anonymous, Banksy is well known and a powerful political activist and and film director while also being most-known for his street art. This one in particular embodies british culture, and not in a disrespectful way but definitely an intriguing one.
